چکیده
Roma’da bir ailenin ve evin atalarının ruhları tarafından korunduğu inancı vardır. Bu inanç başlangıçta evlerin koruyucu tanrısı olan Lares koruyucusu babası Pater familias kavramları altında ortaya çıkmıştır. Roma’ya özgü kavram Genius ise, her insanın yerin ruhu olarak kabul edilmiştir. kavramı ancak Augustus’un ölümünden sonra, ruhunun kişileştirmesi Augusti kavramının çıkmasıyla resmiyet kazanmıştır. Genellikle Roma İmparatorluk Dönemi sanatında betimlemelerine rastlanmaktadır. dönemde çoğunlukla plastik eserler sikkeler üzerinde tasvir betimlemelerde de temsil ettiği kişinin veya grubun cinsiyetine göre kadın ya da erkek Dönemine ait olsada, daha öncesinde farklı medeniyetlerde isimlerde karşımıza çıkmaktadır.
